About the Institution
Bengal Fine Arts College is a non-profit, non-political, and non-communal social voluntary institution dedicated to the promotion of art education. The college was founded in 1979 by Shri Debnarayan Debnath, who served as its Honorary Principal and laid the foundation for its academic and cultural vision.
The institution was formally registered under the West Bengal Societies Registration Act, 1961 during the academic session 1985–86. Bengal Fine Arts College is affiliated to Indira Kala Sangit Vishwavidyalaya, Khairagarh, the only university in South-East Asia exclusively dedicated to Fine Arts. The college is also recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and is included under Sections 2(f) and 12-B of the UGC Act.
