Rules and Procedure for Submission of Online Application

Admission to Bachelor of Fine Arts (Painting) | Academic Session 2026–27

  • Mode of Submission

1.1 Admission applications to the Bachelor of Fine Arts (Painting) programme for the academic session 2026–27 shall be submitted only through the online application form made available by Bengal Fine Arts College.
1.2 Applications submitted through any mode other than the prescribed online form shall not be entertained.

  • Eligibility Criteria

2.1 Applicants must have passed or appeared in the Higher Secondary Examination (10+2) or its equivalent from a board/institution recognised by competent authorities.
2.2 Admission shall be strictly subject to the eligibility conditions, reservation policy, and academic regulations prescribed by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the affiliating university, as applicable from time to time.
2.3 Mere fulfilment of minimum eligibility criteria shall not confer any right to admission.

  • Reservation Policy

3.1 Reservation of seats for SC, ST, OBC, PwD, and other categories shall be applicable as per UGC norms and the prevailing rules of the State Government / affiliating university.
3.2 Candidates claiming reservation under any category must upload valid certificates issued by the competent authority in the prescribed format.
3.3 Applications without valid documentary proof shall be considered under the General category.

  • Submission of Information

4.1 Applicants shall ensure that all information furnished in the application form is true, complete, and correct to the best of their knowledge.
4.2 The name, date of birth, and parent/guardian details must strictly correspond to those recorded in the Class X certificate or equivalent official documents.
4.3 Any misrepresentation, suppression of facts, or furnishing of incorrect information shall render the applicant liable for cancellation of candidature/admission at any stage, without prior notice.

  • Upload of Documents

5.1 Applicants shall upload clear, and legible scanned copies of all required documents in the specified format and file size.
5.2 Documents once uploaded shall be treated as final, and no request for replacement or correction shall ordinarily be entertained.

5.3 Candidates who are appearing or have appeared in the Class XII (10+2) examination and whose results are awaited shall upload a copy of the Class XII examination admit card instead of the marksheet. In such cases, admission, if granted, shall be strictly provisional and shall be confirmed only upon publication of the result and subject to the candidate having passed the qualifying examination in accordance with the eligibility criteria prescribed by the affiliating university.

5.4 Failure to upload mandatory documents shall result in rejection of the application.

  • Portfolio Submission

6.1 Submission of an art portfolio is mandatory for all applicants.
6.2 The portfolio shall consist of 5 original artworks exclusively created by the applicant.
6.3 Applicants must submit a declaration of originality, failing which the application shall be liable to rejection.
6.4 Detection of plagiarism or submission of non-original work shall result in immediate disqualification.

  • Contact and Communication

7.1 Applicants must provide a valid mobile number (WhatsApp enabled) and email address for correspondence.
7.2 Contact details of at least one parent/guardian must be provided.
7.3 All official communication regarding admission shall be made through the contact details furnished in the application form. The institution shall not be responsible for non-receipt of communication due to incorrect or inactive contact details.

  • Application Fee

8.1 Payment of the prescribed application fee [Rupees Five Hundred (Rs. 500) only] is mandatory and shall be made through the designated online payment gateway only.
8.2 The application fee shall be non-refundable and non-transferable under any circumstances.
8.3 Proof of successful payment must be uploaded; applications without payment confirmation shall be treated as incomplete.

  • Submission and Finality of Application

9.1 Applicants are advised to verify all entries carefully before final submission.
9.2 Once submitted, the application form shall not be permitted to be edited or modified.

  • Selection Procedure

10.1 Admission shall be based on:

  • Fulfilment of eligibility criteria
  • Evaluation of portfolio
  • Online Aptitude test and interview
  • Availability of seats and compliance with university norms

10.2 The institution reserves the right to adopt, modify, or implement selection procedures in accordance with UGC regulations and affiliating university directives.

  • Verification of Documents

11.1 Admission granted shall be provisional and subject to physical verification of original documents at the time of admission or as notified.
11.2 Failure to produce original documents shall result in cancellation of provisional admission.

  • Declaration and Consent

12.1 By submitting the application form, the applicant declares that all information furnished is true and correct.
12.2 The applicant agrees to abide by the rules, regulations, and disciplinary codes of the institution and the affiliating university.
12.3 The applicant provides consent to receive official communication through Email, SMS, and WhatsApp.

  • Jurisdiction

13.1 Any dispute arising out of the admission process shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts as applicable under law.
